I earned my Ph.D. from Florida State University in 2018. After serving as a Post-Doctoral Fellow during the 2018-2019 academic year, I accepted a research position with the Florida Legislature's Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability (OPPAGA), in the Government Operations Policy Department.

My research interests are in comparative politics. My dissertation explores the phenomenon of Anti-Establishment parties, where I develop a measure to systematically classify such parties, explore the sources of their electoral support, and assess the behavior of anti-establishment politicians once elected to parliaments.  I also research in the area of gender and politics, particularly female legislative behavior.

With my co-author, Rachel Tuning, I have an article forthcoming in the Journal of Women, Politics, and Policy on the  legislative behavior of women in the European Parliament.  We find that anti-establishment women are the most active members of the Eighth Session of the European Parliament, but they do not pursue classic feminine issues.  I also have work under review that explores vote choice for anti-establishment parties from the right and left, legislative agenda setting of anti-establishment parties in domestic parliaments, and the connection between political trust and European immigration attitudes (with David Macdonald).

Prior to pursuing my doctorate, I spent nine years as a public high school teacher. I love teaching, and take pride in mentoring students, particularly women.  During my time at FSU, I  taught Introduction to American Politics, Introduction to Comparative Politics, Politics of Western Europe, European Union Politics, and Comparative Women and Politics.
